Suralink - Explainer Video
Process
Objective
Suralink commissioned a short explainer video to introduce their platform, highlight its key features, and communicate why it stands out in the market. The client provided a finalized storyboard and vector assets with an established look and feel.
My role was to bring the visuals to life through motion, creating a clear and engaging piece that aligned with their brand voice.
The project had a tight two-week deadline, as the video was scheduled to launch alongside their new website release.

Conceptualization
While the overall concept and visual style were provided, I contributed by refining the transitions between scenes.
The original storyboard did not fully account for timing or continuity, so I proposed adjustments that made the flow between sections feel more natural and cohesive. These refinements were made while carefully retaining the timing of the pre-approved voiceover and music mix, helping to preserve clarity, pacing, and rhythm throughout the video.

Execution
The animation was built in After Effects using the provided vector assets. I used a combination of expressions and the Puppet Tool to create lightweight character rigs that added subtle movement and personality without overcomplicating the animation pipeline.
For example, the flying bird sequence was animated using a blend of mesh distortion and timed expressions to create a natural wing rhythm. These techniques helped bring the visuals to life efficiently while keeping the file flexible for revisions and updates.

Lessons Learned
This project deepened my understanding of After Effects expressions, smart parenting, and the Puppet Tool, especially when used to build efficient, reusable setups for character and scene animation.
It also reinforced the value of being involved early in the pre-production phase. Many common issues, such as timing gaps or unclear transitions, can be avoided when a motion designer is included in the planning process from the beginning.
